Study Room Use Policy

The Paul J. Cushing Library has 4 study rooms, a large group study table, and one seminar room available for use by students, faculty, and staff at Holy Names University. These rooms may be used for study, meetings, and instruction.

For reserving study rooms in advance, see the Library Calendar tab for room availability, then fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Study rooms can also be used on a walk-in basis (minimum two or more users). Room reservations preempt walk-in users. We post the daily reservation schedule on the front of each door.

Guidelines for Study Room Use

  • Large study rooms (Seminar Room or Group Study Table) are for use by 2-10 people only. Small rooms are for use by 1-4 people.
  • Reserve for up to four hours in any one day.
  • Study room reservations are held for 15 minutes after the start of the reservation.
  • One person cannot hold a room waiting for others to arrive. Please wait in the library lobby or wherever your party can find you.
  • Please tidy up before you depart.

Room Amenities

All rooms have tables, chairs, and whiteboards. The Seminar Room has a projector and built-in speakers. If you need erasers, whiteboard pens, or whiteboard cleaner, just ask the front desk. The Seminar Room also has a kit available for checkout with an assortment of cables and adapters.

Privacy

  • Most study rooms are monitored by cameras.
  • For your personal safety, please do not block windows.
  • Library staff members reserve the right to enter any group study room at any time.

Personal Property

  • Unattended personal property found in study rooms will be turned in to Campus Safety, which manages the campus lost and found department.
  • The Library and the University are not responsible for unattended, lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
