Video Tutorial on Article Searching in Google Scholar

 

View this video tutorial on searching for articles in the Holy Names University Library databases using Google Scholar.

This tutorial covers:

  • setting up your Google Scholar "Library Links"
  • using search filters
  • "Find Full-Text at HNU" links
  • locating the full-text PDF to download articles onto your device

We will also look at what to do when the HNU Library does not have access to a PDF of the article you found using Google Scholar.

Using Google Scholar from Home

STEP 1:

Start by setting up your Google Scholar Library Links!

Click on the menu icon in the upper left corner of the landing page

STEP 2:

Click on "Settings" from the menu

Select settings

 

STEP 3:

Select "Library Links"

Select Library Links

 

STEP 4:

Search for "Holy Names University Library"

Search for Holy Names University

 

STEP 5:

Save your "Library Links" settings for "Holy Names University Library"

Check and Save Google Scholar settings

STEP 6:

Enter your Search Terms to begin your search!

When articles are available through the HNU Library databases, you will see Find Full-Text at HNU"

on the right-hand side of the search results list

Click on "Find Full-Text at HNU" and you will be taken to the library database where a PDF of the article is available
